Of all the threats faced by the Corporations, there are none so nefarious as the Dark Legion. The plague that would become the Legion first appeared during the infancy of mankind’s space exploration. Imperial Conquistadors travelled far in search on worlds not colonised by the other Legions and, in their desperation, awoke a darkness beyond the ken of mere mortals.

The awakening of the Legion triggered a shockwave of Dark Symmetry that corrupted the artificial intelligences and advanced technologies that had propelled mankind across the solar system. The Fall, as it came to be known, devastated mankind, crippling their society and military in equal measure, forcing them to adopt antiquated technologies allegedly impervious the Darkness.

Necromutant Squad Commanders

Free of its prison of Nero, the tenth planet, the Darkness spawned its most malevolent weapons; the Five Apostles, each a representation of the twisted madness let loose upon mankind in the following its awakening. The most ruinous of the Apostles, Algeroth, Lord of Destruction, led a crusade across the Solar System slaughtering humanity by the thousands. Despite his successes, the Darkness was not destined to win that day. Through the sacrifice of First Cardinal Dominic and over a million brave warriors Algeroth was beaten and his legions broken. Evil, however, can never truly be destroyed and so the Legion retreated from core worlds. They have waited in the Darkness ever since. A millennia has come and gone, and now the Legion once again march to the war drum, intend of the destruction of humanity.

The Legion use all manner of twisted science and dark magic to further their goals. It is true that the Apostles are alien, although it is not clear if they come from simply outside our solar system, or from beyond our reality. What is known is that they all, to some extent, can wield the powers of Darkness in the form of Dark Symmetry; a malign magic, the antithesis of the Art used by the Brotherhood. With Dark Symmetry the Legion are able to mutate the dying and reanimate the dead. Their ranks are swollen by the corpses of those that opposed them, and led by the men and women who once swore to fight them.

Undead Legionnaires

Woven from flesh and darkness, the Legion are a terrifying opponent to face in battle, and this is represented fully in games of Warzone Resurrection. Each of their units has the ability to shrug off wounds that would kill most, and their very presence forces your opponents to check the morale of his soldiers before pressing the attack. They are also one of the few armies with access to psychic powers, drawing on Dark Symmetry to harass your opponents and empower your own units.

Necromutants

The Legion Forces are often fielded as a traditional Horde army; large units of Undead Legionnaires can form the bulk of your forces – the corpses of fallen warriors awoken from death by the power of Darkness. They are a cheap, reasonably equipped force easily a match for the troop choices of other armies. These Undead Legionaires have the option to be led by a Necromutant; a living warrior who has ascended into a brutal, cunning warrior through a variety of Necrotechnological procedures. These Necromutants augment your Undead Legionnaires, directing them and allowing them to act much more like they did in life. Necromutants are hardier, stronger and better equipped than the Undead Legionaires, and may also be taken as squads in their own right if you wish to field a more heavy infantry force.

Razide

Marching to war alongside these abominations stride a number monsters of born from the nightmares of mankind.

The Razide is a terrifying bio-mechanical construct towering of a normal man. It wields a weapon more suited to the side of a battle-tank one handed, launching punishing salvos of unerringly accurate fire to cover the advance of its fellow monster.

Necrobeast Rider

Skittering ahead of the main forces ride the Necrobeast Riders. Forgoing the bikes used by humanity, these Necromutant Centurions ride mutated and enhanced beasts broken to obey the rider’s commands. Fast and agile, these beasts are great for scouting ahead of your main army and probing the flanks of your opponents army with bullet and blade.

Praetorian Stalkers

The most feared of all the Legion forces are the Praetorian Stalkers. Taller than a man and possessing a wicked intelligence, these pack hunters form the mainstay of the Dark Legions elite forces. They can be equipped in one of two ways; armed with either a scythe twice the height of a man able to cleave tank armour and flesh and blood with ease, or a heavy machine gun capable of mowing down infantry and blowing open buildings with different ammunition types. Stalkers are also able to deploy deep into the battlefield, allowing you to get your elite units straight into the fight whilst your slower units move up behind.

Praetorian Behemoth

Whilst the Stalkers are the most feared of all the Legion forces, they are by no means the most destructive. Towering over all but the largest of enemy walkers, the Behemoth is one of the few monsters the game offers. It has an absurd number of wounds, allowing it weather an equally absurd amount of damage. It’s four arms make it versatile enough to carry a terrifying ranged weapon, whilst leaving hands free to tear and smash its foes up close. It is truly a beast to be feared, and woe betide any general that must face such a creature on the battlefield.
