WARMACHINE PROGRESS REPORT May 8, 2023
Expansions shipping, new app functions on the way, more Legacy armies coming online, and an updated roadmap—here’s the latest for everything going on with WARMACHINE: MKIV.
Sea Raider and Storm Legion Army Expansions are shipping with an in-store release date set for May 26th. We’ve already started packing out the Winter Korps Army Expansion as well, which is expected to ship right on the heels of the other two. And the large, chunky parts for the forthcoming 80 mm solo models—the AC-2 Bison, the Zephyr, and the Siege Tarask—are already piling up and will roll out not long after. That puts the Dusk House Kallyss Core Army Starter next in the queue with full production starting next week.
Everything for these waves has been getting produced by our manufacturing partner in the UK. Optimizing our production pipeline to work with an outside supplier has been challenging, but we feel we’re finally starting to hit our stride. The extra help has also given us the opportunity to make upgrades to our own internal manufacturing process in our ongoing effort to improve quality and efficiency, and very soon we’ll be able to show off the first results of these efforts, particularly for anyone that is looking forward to a “pirate’s life.” By this summer, we expect to be able to achieve a significant increase in our monthly output.
In anticipation of some big summer releases and in an effort to avoid possible production logjams, we have moved the Khymaera Shadowflame Shard Core Army Starter release to October. With this adjustment to our schedule, we hope to ensure that the Brineblood Marauders releases go according to schedule. This also gives us a bit more development and sculpting time on the Shadowflame Shard, which we’re taking advantage of. If you saw any of the spoilers we sent to the annual Bokur Brawl, then you got a glimpse of what this exciting new Faction and army has in store, and it’s nothing like anything we’ve done before.
Progress continues on additional features for the WARMACHINE app. Desktop support has pushed into May as we work through the Steam submission process, and we also hit an unexpected delay as the latest strain of COVID struck, laying low our one-person software development team. But we expect desktop support to be operational by the end of next week, and then we’ll be going full steam ahead on print-to-pdf support.
Meanwhile, the Privateer dev team continues to make progress on Legacy army conversions, with several added to our roadmap over the next three months, as well as a firm date for colossal and gargantuan rules coming in August.
As always, we’ll have some fun surprises for you as we march on toward summer. We’re excited for the upcoming events, and we look forward to seeing everyone who will be coming out for the conventions. Until next time, thank you for your support!
