RPG Developer


Wyrd Miniatures is currently looking for a full-time Game Designer – Role Playing Games to work on new and ongoing projects. This position is responsible for creating and developing game systems, as well as content for games throughout our line, with a primary focus on Role Playing Games. This requires a deep understanding of system building and how to develop both for game balance and playability. Be prepared to take on many roles as part of a small and growing company.

Located in Marietta, GA (30 minutes north of Atlanta). Relocation is required.

Primary Job Duties

  • Deep understanding of multiple Role Playing Game systems
  • The ability to identify what makes a game “fun” while also understanding what makes it work
  • Ability to think beyond what already exists in the industry
  • Game Design
    Follow established precedent and remain true to the Intellectual Property (IP) and high quality associated with Wyrd Miniatures products.

    • Ability to meet multiple deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Maintain high-quality and frequent communication with other members of the development team and management
    • Coordinate with freelance vendors, including, designers, writers, editors, artists, and playtesters
    • Create vision and design goals for games under the direction of your supervisor
    • Clear and concise writing for rules
    • Develop creative content for game design, game background, and fiction stories
    • Write fiction for stories, bios, background, as needed
    • Write art and miniatures descriptions for production
  • Maintain a high-functioning knowledge on all Wyrd games (including a Rules Marshal level of knowledge for Malifaux and all spin-off games)
  • Additional Duties
    • Contribute ideas and content for Wyrd Miniatures websites
    • Forum moderation and Rules Marshal role
    • Assist in preparation and running of Wyrd Miniatures presence at conventions and trade shows

Requirements

  • 2+ years of industry experience
  • Game design experience (credit on at least 1 shipped game title), with demonstrated success in Role Playing Games
  • Experience designing and implementing large numbers of game assets such as characters, creatures, items, settings, plot lines, abilities, and spells
  • Experience leading a gaming project to completion
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Malifaux
  • Veteran game player
