We have returned from AdeptiCon and are excited to have models in people’s hands through the Kickstarter and at our booth at the big show. Now we want to get people playing some more games so we can finalize the ruleset. Our next big push will be to get the rulebook and FerrumSky campaign out to the world. To do that, we need to polish up the rules a bit more and find out want essential questions are being left unanswered in the background. In an effort to reach those ends we have made 3 new PDF’s available for download:

Broken Contract Background Book

This booklet contains 22 pages of background text, including an introductory scenario. Find out about the New Age of Exploration, the Orin Labor Revolt, the FerrumSky mines, Breakers, Black Squadron Security, and Loyalist work gangs. You’ll also find backstories on characters like Nells Turnbull, Trest the gen-mod, and Overseer Wire Billins. It wraps up with a condensed version of ‘It’s Time’, a great scenario for diving into the rules to the game.

Broken Contract Playtest Rulebook

This booklet contains all the rules to play one off scenarios like ‘It’s Time’ from the Background Book. Broken Contract uses Action Points with an Action and Interruption system to keep everyone engaged and everyone on their toes. Every model in the game also has it’s own Initiative Order that changes every turn forcing you to constantly reevaluate your plans. Finally, the Action and Interruption list includes unexpect options like Dive Roll, “Stand Down!”, and “Mercy!” giving players unique cinematic action movie moments not available in other games. Though most games will focus on 3-6 models per side, this incarnation of the rules includes the addition of Form Team and Team Action allowing a group of Characters to band together and act in the Initiative Order of their leader. We’d really love your input on this new addition.

Broken Contract Character Dashboards and Chits

If you already own some Broken Contract models, they came with all of the Character Stat Cards, Equipment Cards, and Ability Cards needed to play the game with those Characters. Still, the addition of Character Dashboards and Chits will make running a game much smoother so we’ve made these available for free download. We recommend downloading this file and copying it eight times on cardstock so that you can play a normal sized game.
