Mighty Lords; Room 17’s current kickstarter project focusing solely on alternate sculpts for your tabletop has entered it’s last week of funding today and is not far off of the Dragon sculpt we shared the concept art of which, with you last week.

The latest installments of The Mighty Lords range has taken a step away from the hellish, unworldly and demonic with it’s latest stretch goals and released the latest faction of sculpts that hitting yet ore stretch goals has allowed the Room 17 sculpts to bring to life ; The heavily armored , stoic Legions of Light!

These heavily armored champions stand opposed to the brutish barbarian warriors, grotesquely adorned demons and towering Ogres that currently exist in the Mighty Lords range, filling the classic slot in the faction roster of the “Plated Hero”

Their beast companion, of course is just as regal. I would not like to get on the wrong side of this beast.

Clean, gleaming armor, smooth edges, finely honed weapons.  Now at this point in the campaign we’ve entered it knowing that we are also looking at alternate weapon sprues, armor and shields so have already begin designing these with those in mind, which – we have engaged with our community during the design for these and read an awfully large amount of feedback – we have really enjoyed the challenge – we are aware that some of you feel they look a little more “statically posed” than our previous models and are till tweaking elements of the design, right up until the final molds are created;

Heroic poses on models like this are a tricky one , we opted to go down this route with the Legions of Light in particular for a few reasons – one – the characters themselves are steadfast, stalwart, regimented masters of order and light, they are a step away from the Marauders or Demons and this is portrayed in their armor, weapons and how they stand, carry themselves and behave – which we want to reflect in their poses and the sculpts, but also – it allows for a little more fun, when it comes to weapon customization.  With a  very detailed , intricately posed character, you may limit the customisation to an alternate dagger, sword or axe, but with the legion, by beginning from a point of being certain we would be looking at alternates, we were able to be a little more ambitious…
