Penanggalan – Cult of Yurei

The Vampiric Yokai is yet another nightmare made flesh by the weakening of the balance. These parasitic monsters only purpose is to move from one victim to the next, draining the host of blood whilst riding the body in search of its next prey. From a distance it is hard to work out the unnatural, jerky movements of the poor soul’s body the Penanggalan uses to get close. By the time danger is confirmed the Penanggalan has either trapped its victim in its stare, or uncoiled from its host with shocking speed and wrapped its long tendril around the hapless soul, incapacitating them and allowing it to feed and then inhabit the body, wearing the corpse like a cheap kimono so easily discarded when its use is served.

Ret-MattT: Will the storyline move forward?

GCT Toby: Yes, we want to evolve the world, the characters and the story arch. Like everything we do we want to do it in the best way possible and are currently working out the best way to get this out to the players, whether that’s through the next book, novels or other mediums.   

RET-DasLeo: Will there be sub-faction/Minor Clan themed releases?

GCT Toby: During the next year Bushido will see dome excited introductions to keep players on their toes and these might include some smaller sub-faction/faction releases.

Scorpio: Was there one element from designing a fig that really didn’t work out, but you still regret not including?

GCT Toby: This is a great question. One of the difficulties when creating a model is balancing rules and fluff. I personally feel that rule balance and clarity is more important but at the same time try to incorporate interesting, unique and cool effects for models within the existing games rules or mechanics. But in answer to the question yes, there are a few things that were very close to being worked in but in the end of the process it was felt that the value it bought didn’t outweigh the complexity of implementing a new rule.
