International Tabletop Day

We’d like to tell you about a very special International Tabletop Day Event that you can be a part of.

What’s happening?

Overseale House, in association with Spirit Games, will be hosting a gaming weekend with a special emphasis on the World of Dystopian Wars.

Overseale House will be a hosting a special event on International Tabletop Day to celebrate the World of Dystopian Wars

The format will be such that several areas will be set up within the house and grounds. There will be steampunk novelty items on show and for sale, a Spirit Games direct order ability and stall and plenty of extra bits to keep everybody interested, including miniature displays and prizes.

Each day will feature a number of 2 hour games so that everyone gets to play, with introductions to the house and breaks at intervals. Boards, tables and professionally finished house scenery will be provided, along with dedicated room supervisors should there be the need for help, advice or an injection of joviality.

The plan is for there to be an area set up specifically as an introduction into the world of steampunk and Dystopian Wars. There will be a showcase for Dystopian Wars, Armoured Clash and Dystopian Legions. There will also be an area set up for players already familiar with these games and who just want to set up and play in a new and different location. Most guests already attending would come under this category.

Even though this is an organised event, it’s an opportunity for people to just be able to have fun and enjoy the hobby. With that in mind the event organisers are trying to make the event as casual as possible, without the pomp that may or may not have accompanied Victorian England’s events and galas.

When will the event take place?

The event will start at 10:00am on Saturday 5th April and will run late into the night. The event will then continue on the Sunday, again from 10:00am until late to allow those that make the trip to get the most out of the weekend.

Where will the event take place?

Superior bed & breakfast accommodation in the heart of the English countryside, with private grounds, locally sourced produce and a friendly personal approach towards guests.

A great setting for Victorian super science fiction

Overseale House is a fine Grade 2* Georgian Country House. Built around the late 1700′s, it has been host to some of England’s most influential people from that era, including Joseph Wilkes and Wordsworth, and would even have been known by the King of England George the 2nd. The house was restored by its previous owners and boasts beautiful original features throughout, the 2.5 acres of private grounds also give a peaceful and private environment whilst still allowing quick access to the heart of England.

The house has eight bedrooms with a mix of en-suite and communal bathrooms running along a central corridor which extends the full length of the house. The house also has a separate entrance from which our self catering and a further family suite are available.

The address is:

Can I stay?

Of course – the event organisers are hoping that visitors choose to stay as they are offering accommodation at special rates to event attendees.

Accommodation rates are £35 per person per night including a full English breakfast. This will be discounted to £25 per person per night for event guests. This will be on a first come first served basis so pre-booking is advised.

What about dining arrangements?

Food will be traditional English fayre, including hot sandwich’s, hot dogs, jacket potatoes and other roasted goodies. All food is locally produced and reasonably priced. Anyone purchasing meals will also be entitled to a FREE pint of real ale.

The event runs over a full weekend, so plenty of time to engage in multiple battles and enjoy the company of other like-minded gamers

Will I be able to park?

Parking is FREE. There is enough space for over 20 vehicles but should there be issues the event organisers have other grounds that can be utilised to provide further space.

How much will the event cost?

The event itself is FREE. The event organisers hope that this will be the first of many gaming events, enabling families to enjoy time together, or indeed give partners the ability to enjoy the many other local attractions in the area whilst their other halves wargame and generally enjoy themselves.
