Hello again! Time to update you on the progress of my army for our office league!

I am having so much fun as a part of this slow-grow league. I played one game against a Cygnar army (I won!!!) but what I’m really enjoying is painting! When I was in second grade, my teacher called my parents in for a parent-teacher conference—because I colored the grass pink. Ever since then, I have considered myself a bit of a color rebel, always embracing my inner Punky Brewster. So with that in mind, I’ll tell you a little bit about my unit of Satyxis raiders.

At first I thought, “Wow, that’s a lot of ladies to paint!” But as I started painting, I found my inner zen. I think I painted for most of this past weekend, grooving out to music as the color brought these models alive. In keeping with the colors I chose for my ‘jacks, I used the same combination of Beaten Purple and Murderous Magenta for their clothes and Pig Iron for their armor. I wanted them to look more pallid and necrotic, so I used Jack Bone for the skin and Necrotite Green for the hair. I love how awesome inks and washes can make a model look, so once everything dried I washed their armor and horns with Armor Wash.

I have to say I love the green hair. It’s bright and vibrant—and a little sassy. It’s been really satisfying watching an entire unit come together. I love how one moment, you can have ten figures that are halfway done, and then suddenly as the last touch of armor wash goes on, not just one model is done, but an entire unit!

So I’ve fully painted a 25-point army. That’s so rad! While I’ve dabbled at painting a “cool” model here or there, I’ve never painted a complete army that I can play with. I’m really proud of that accomplishment. Seeing all the models together is really quite something!
