Insider 6-18-2015
Every year, I tell myself I’m going to start painting one hour a day. It’s a lofty goal, one I struggle with all the time. I have many armies I want to play, but other hobbies and life responsibilities always seem to get in the way. This year, though, I have a new strategy.
With a new year comes a lot of new projects, and one of my favorites right now is my Cygnar collection that I’ll be working on throughout 2015. In an effort to get more hobbying done, a few of us at the office have started what we like to call “Lunch Time Paint Party.” I’ve painted almost 50 points in the last month, in large part due to those few extra hours of painting I’ve added to my schedule!
Lunch Time Paint Party is usually just IT Administrator Micah Scott-Ralston and me. We pack our lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays and stay in the office to get our hobby on. I’m saving money, hanging out with a friend, and getting more models painted. This is a total win-win-win situation. Micah is working on a Protectorate of Menoth army, and once we both finish our first lists we’ll get together and throw down in style with two fully painted armies. Thanks to the time we’ve spent painting together I’ve been able to finish the Cygnar army featured in No Quarter #60 while Micah finished his Protectorate of Menoth army in time for Lock & Load 2015.
Painting with friends always makes the time go faster, and found time is great to spend on a hobby project. I’d love to hear different ways you’re finding time to get stuff done in 2015. Post your ideas in the Privateer Press forums or share them on Twitter, and let’s all make some major progress on our models this year.
