Organized Play Developer Will Hungerford approached me about a couple of the unique elements for this scenario that he thought would make great conversions.
Among his suggestions: I create the model for a brand-new Grymkin! For those of you who don’t know, few things bring me as much joy as converting. I gladly accepted the challenge, and after a chat with Hungerford about how he envisioned the star of the You’re A Mean One scenario, the Grymch, I set about my work.
Parts Used:
1. We’re going to start by cutting the Fire Eater body’s left arm and the Grotesque’s arm to fit one another. Cut the plastic nub on the body back to the elbow.
2. Next, cut the elbow off the Grotesque’s left arm so that the two pieces sit flush.
3. Now do the same for the right arm’s elbow. Cut the plastic nub so that it will sit flush with the Grotesque’s arm.
4. Glue the arms on to match the pose of the model you want.
5. Form a small blob of P3 Brown/Aluminum Putty. Fill the body’s socket hole with the putty so you have a solid base to which you can attach the Tharn head. You may need to make a second ball in order to create a “neck.”
6. Attach the pack to the back of the Grymch, covering as much of the socket hole as possible. Fill the remaining gaps with putty.
7. Extend the fur collar on the jacket to meet the sack. For a great article on sculpting fur, check out studio painter Dallas Kemp’s Pygmy Troll conversion article from No Quarter issue #61.
8. Work the putty into a cone shape. This will form the main body of the hat.
9. For the candy cane, I took a piece of flash I had on my desk and bent it around the end of my pliers to get the perfect shape. Then I used a small piece of putty to form a little strap, connecting it to the Grymch’s jacket.
10. And there you have it! The meanest, nastiest, most malicious fun killer in the Iron Kingdoms: The Grymch.
