Forgotten King Friday Update – Starfire!!

Happy Friday!

We are super-slammed at Soda Pop HQ today so today will be a short update, lets get right to it!

Production

This week was a lot of watching the gears of production grind along. On our end are finishing up approving the last of the cards and packaging files.

We will be receiving our first approval shipment of actual complete product next week. We will make sure to take pictures to share, and keep you updated as we go along.

The waiting…it burns usssssss!

Starfire

Lets continue the Super Dungeon Explore 1.0 card updates with our first dragon, the might Starfire. He’s almost as terrifying on the game board as he was to assemble—Yay for all models now being pre-assembled!

Veterans of Super Dungeon Explore will immediately notice some upgrades to Starfire. Lets take a look.

Starfire is speedy. With 8 movement points and the Fly ability, allowing him to ignore most terrain and enemy models, Starfire can get where he needs to go despite his large base.

On the defensive side Starfire does not have a particularly huge ARM, only 1 blue, 1 red, and 1 green. The ability Immune: Fire helps him against damage over time, but in general Starfire needs to destroy the Heroes as quickly and efficiently as possible. Lets see how he does that.

Starfire uses STR for his offensive actions. He is able to make a basic Melee Attack with a range of 2 squares for a respectable 2 red, 1 green, +1 star. Of course, what Starfire really likes to do is breathe fire. The unique offensive action Inferno gives Starfire a Lance 6 area effect that inflicts the status effect Fire for the bargain cost of 1 action point! Run away! Oh, and Starfire’s large base means the lance hits 12 squares! Not surprisingly Hero’s will want someIce to shut that unique action down.

Adding to his offensive potential is the ability Tail Sweep. Tail Sweep provides Starfire with a free, once-per-activation, Sweep 2 offensive action that causes Knockdown. That’s right another area effect that he gets to make for free. That’s potentially 5 area effects per turn! Wow.

Finally, Starfire’s signature ability is Hoard. This wonderful ability allows Starfire to equip loot, just like a Hero. Use the unique support action Dragon Hoard to draw loot cards, and before you know it you’ll be fighting a super-charged Starfire! Mwhahahahaha!

In Arcade Mode, Starfire retains his speedy 8 movement points and Fly.

For defense he has a healthy ARM of 4 stars and retains Immune: Fire. However, he does get a bump in Hearts to 8.

For offense, Starfire has a standard Dungeon Boss 3 action points. Unsurprisingly Inferno becomes a signature action, which he can use anytime a Fight command is drawn. Tail Sweep moves to an offensive action that triggers only when a Unique command is drawn.

The big change from Classic Mode, is the loss of the Hoard ability. This is purely a balance decision. The mechanics of Arcade made it so that Starfire just become too ridiculous when equipped with loot. That’s okay, that leaves more for the Heroes!
