Flying with A-Case+ in U.S – TSA approved in practice

Hey, Wargamers! Today we have something special. A true story wrote by Nico Bernal.

I received my A-Case+ in mid-December and have now been using it for six months. During this time I have taken a wide variety of miniatures to local events and game nights, but I hadn’t had the chance to fly with it yet.

Last week, I flew from Arizona to Oregon for a tournament and was a little leery about how the case would perform. This would not only be the farthest I had traveled with the A-case+, but it would be the furthest I had ever traveled with my miniatures. I had no idea what to expect from airport and security personnel, the only thing I knew was that I had to carry my miniatures with me to ensure their safety.

There were two big hurdles I would have to face. The first one being TSA, and how they react to me trying to get a big metal box through their scanner. The second issue was space, I needed my a case to fit underneath the seat in front of me since I had also brought a carry-on suitcase that I was putting up overhead.

I arrived at the airport and was more than a little nervous if there was an issue and I was not going to be allowed to take my models on the plane would this trip even be worth it? Since I had just driven two hours to the airport I was in no hurry to have to go back home. I get to security and hand over my suitcase, no problem. As I set my A-Case+ in front of them I inform them that the whole thing is steel lined and may look strange on their scanner. The security agent asks me why I need the metal box and what is it for, after a very brief explanation he says okay and puts it through the scanner. The first issue is down, but I’m not in the clear yet.

As I get on the plane I quickly realized that I am in an aisle seat, where the under seat capacity is smaller. I slide my case under the seat and it fits perfectly, there is even an inch or two of space on either side. Upon arrival to my destination, I jump off the plane and open my bag as quickly as possible to check that all of my miniatures are intact. On both my flight to the tournament and my return flight home, the A-Case+ performed superiorly; exceeding my expectations. It was easy to use, fit in all the right spaces, and offered an incredible amount of protection; the likes of which I have never seen in another army case. The A-Case+ is the last army case I will ever buy and the only one I will recommend. Great job!!!
