Exclusive Dragons Conquer America Artwork (plus WIP sketches)

The Kickstarter campaign to fund the Core Book of Dragons Conquer America is entering the home stretch, with 85% of funding. To celebrate the success of the campaign, we are happy to share with the readers of Bell of Lost Souls one of the most impressive pieces of art our artists have created so far.

Please hold your breath for Tenochtitlan, the breathtaking Mexica capital:

This illustration has been created by Leon Tukker, who has worked with us before for FAITH: The Sci-Fi RPG. It represents Tenochtitlan, the capital city-state of the Mexica empire. Founded on June 20, 1325, Tenochtitlan was built on an island in what was then Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico.

The piece he created is, of course, a reinterpretation of the source material (hey, look at that dragon!), but the real deal was an impressive feat of city planning and urban engineering:

Leon has been kind enough to share a cool gif where he showcases the creation process of the artwork. As you can see, the level of detail gradually increases to give way to a moody and elegant final result:

If we needed more reasons to love the work of this artist, here’s Exhibit B. He started his work by creating a 3D grid of the city, which he then goes on to elaborate with a myriad of detail (and the dragon!).

We invite you to check out the Kickstarter campaign. It aims to fund the core book of DCA, a Mexican-Spanish coproduction that delves deeper in the Mesoamerican lore and culture, and that will see you fight devilish monsters in order to free the world of evil.
