Brutal Cities now offer 3D Printable terrain!

Brutal Cities, known for their architectural laser cut model kits since 2020, has been a little quiet lately. Back in April, it was announced that the Brutal Cities workshop was shutting down, with production of MDF terrain on hold. Behind the scenes, Ryan of Brutal Cities has been hard at work developing 3d printable terrain STL files for sci-fi wargaming. Lovers of brutalist & modernist architecture and wargaming, rejoice!

Check out the new Sci-Fi .STL file designs here.

Why?

As 3D printers continue to improve in quality and become more accessible to hobbyists and professionals alike, fans have long sought after Brutal Cities STLs. Indeed, a Pripyat City Sign was released in 2022 as part of the Red Cross fundraiser, however, as a one-man operation, finding time to dedicate to a new medium while manufacturing MDF terrain kits wasn’t easy. With time constraints lifted, Brutal Cities is now meeting the community where they are by offering 3D printable terrain.

Benefits

Endless customisation for multiple games

Suiting 6mm – 15mm games, this terrain kit fits perfectly in sci-fi, modernist, urban and apocalyptic settings. Need a slick office building for Battletech? An abandoned hospice for Epic 40k?  This one 3D printable terrain file does it all! 28mm / 32mm version to come soon. More modules are being completed and will be available to print soon.

Cost-effective and convenient

While Brutal Cities tournament terrain can be found across gaming clubs worldwide, shipping and conversion rates can be an obstacle for some fans looking to upgrade their table. Wargame terrain 3D print files enable players to fill a table with just one STL, whenever the inspiration strikes!

What’s next?

As Brutal Cities continues to grow in 3D printing, tabletop terrain will see new geometries and thoughtful designs to immerse wargamers and architecture hobbyists alike. 3D printable terrain introduces new forms that aren’t as suitable to produce in MDF laser-cut models. Think brutalist spy bases in craggy mountains, and … organic forms that aren’t possible to laser-cut. Over 600 players have completed the Brutal Cities 3D printing survey which will determine what terrain comes out next. The form is still open for anyone who wants to leave their feedback.

The terrain STL files will be packed with detail, drawing inspiration from both sci-fi and brutalist architecture. Each model will be optimised for 3D printing with nil or minimal supports, giving you clean, precise results that look great on the table.
