Adella is the game of friends and family, of lovers and arch-enemies.

 

A strategic maritime game that is also a design piece, making it the quintessential compliment to the household that emanates intrigue and curiosity. Both an artefact of seemingly ancient origin and a boast of state of the art craftsmanship.

 

The sculpture folds in on itself to contain all of its pieces: the vessels, mans, winds, rulemap and is locked together by a ring.

Adella is a maritime strategy game for 2-4 players where sloops and galleons navigate the seas using the wind to their advantage.

The manned vessels board and broadside their way to victory. The sunken ships are dropped down the central hole called the oubliette.

Akin to chess and mancala: it is the crossroads of ancient cultures wedded to modern innovation.

Whether it is displayed at home or played in a café, people will be bemused or amused for its dual purposes.

The game of Crimps combines ancient and modern techniques. It is constructed using 3d modeling software from the original blueprints. Over the course of 6 years, 7 versions have been made, spanning many countries: it bears the mark of the Cornish and Portuguese designers, and research has been done from Africa to the Americas. Arabesque patterns swirl into Celtic conjurations which dance around the flower of life.

Each game is 3D printed and assembled by hand which involves binding the components, deburring, sanding and staining. The filament used to print the game is ecologically friendly. It has been play tested thousands of times by people all over the world allowing the creators to tweak the game to perfection.

After a long quest, the kickstarter campaign for Adella is finally up.
