Download the Updated FAQ for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition

Your journeys through the deathly dungeons, evil forests, and haunted wastelands of Terrinoth leaves you in constant peril, and with the streets of Nerekhall newly opened to adventure, extra knowledge may prove crucial to your survival. To that end, the developers of Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition have updated the FAQ with additional clarifications and answers to your questions.

This version of the FAQ addresses questions and clarifications for all existing expansions, including Shadow of Nerekhall and Lieutenant Packs. For more information, download the updated FAQ (11.5 MB, pdf) and read developer Nathan Hajek’s introduction to the new FAQ below!

A Word from the Developer

Greetings, Descent fans!

It’s hard to believe it’s been six months since our last update to the FAQ for Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition. We’ve seen some awesome releases since then, so it is time to update and clarify any issues that have come up.

We’ve added clarification and additional rules to several quests. Most of these updates were initiated by fans who write to us about questions they have while playing: anyone can do this by using the contact form on our website. This gives us an opportunity to update the game so it runs as intended for everyone. Labyrinth of Ruin received a number of these clarifications, so be sure to check them out before your next adventure among the ruins of Sudanya!

We updated the Necromancer’s “Dying Command” and the Spirit Speaker’s “Ancestor Spirits” cards. As we continue to develop and refine Descent, we realized that as written, these cards were not as clear as they could be. We also made an update to the Labyrinth of Ruin rulebook, allowing both allies and familiars to use Elixir tokens.

The recent Shadow of Nerekhall expansion received a few updates and clarifications as well. The missing villager token and search token in the first encounter of “Civil War” have been addressed, as well as the timing of the Conjurer’s “Mirror Image” and the “Diverse Means” Overlord card. We’re quite happy with the positive reception this expansion has received from the fans.

Lastly, we included a brief entry for the Lieutenant Packs. Tristayne Olliven’s Agent card received an update to clarify that his attack icon type in Act II is actually Ranged and not Melee as shown. Besides that clarification, there are a few questions we wanted to answer.

In conclusion, check out the new entries in the FAQ, and feel free to contact us with any questions that may come up while playing Descent. We’re more than happy to answer them.

Thanks for playing!
