Pins in the Gridiron Kingdoms

One of my favorite responsibilities in spearheading the Privateer Pins collection is when we kick off a new line that I feel confident will be popular with our player base. To be honest, I wouldn’t have guessed how hot the cereals would be—after all, until we got to Quake Hammer Oats, they’ve all been cold cereals so far—but the chibis seemed like they’d be a hit. Who wouldn’t dig adorable representations of cold-blooded, hard-nosed soldiers?

So, what if we combined the soldiers in the field with those of Soldier Field?

Football is a game of war unto itself—and as George Carlin noted in his comparison of baseball versus football, “In baseball, during the game in the stands, there’s kind of a picnic feeling. Emotions may run high or low, but there’s not too much unpleasantness. In football, during the game in the standings, you can be sure that at least twenty-seven times you’re capable of taking the life of a fellow human being.”

Thus does the more logical sport come to the Iron Kingdoms. So, I give you the first two IK football helmets: the Korsk Kodiaks and the Caspian Bolts.

Debuting at AdeptiCon in Chicago at the end of March, the Kodiaks—a Khadoran warjack, not a bear, by the way—will be the first to take the field, but then we’ll charge ahead at lightning speed with the Caspian Bolts. The more we discussed it, the more we determined that cities all across the land were likely to have teams. So, the Clockers Cove Pirates might hold the Daliskov Marshals at bay in the next few months. And the debut pin we have in mind for Lock & Load GameFest 2016 here in the Seattle area should make the hearts of some collectors soar.

In the end, I hope the latest pin offerings score a touchdown with the collectors and bring some new ones into the fandom. And for those of you who prefer other Privateer Pins, we’re finally getting that Quake Hammer Oats pin and the Church of Morrow pin out this month, too.

One extra point: here’s hoping the game as it’s played in western Immoren uses a ball of some sort and not a hand grenade, a cannonball, or someone’s head. (This is why Doom Reavers probably should be benched….)
