Job Description
The Marketing Director is a key member of the Privateer Press leadership team who oversees the Marketing and Sales departments of Privateer Press. The Marketing Director is responsible for creating, planning, and implementing the overall marketing and sales strategy for Privateer Press and ensuring that all marketing projects and sales goals are completed on schedule by leading the various departments that compose Privateer Press’ marketing team.
Responsibilities
- Consumer Marketing
- Own and define the overall marketing tactics and strategies for Privateer Press, its brands, and its products. Strategies should include, but are not limited to developing inter-product and inter-service co-promotions and suggesting advertising and events to promote the products and generate sales leads, including product launches, ad campaigns, and marketing initiatives for the company.
- Coordinate with our licensing partners for advertising and cross-promotional efforts.
- Create an overall marketing and sales strategy for each year.
- Provide short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by directing market research data collection as well as the analysis and interpretation of market data.
- Coordinate all ad buys, including rates, and maintain and evaluate an advertising calendar that schedules and maintains print, web, and other advertising efforts.
- Establish and grow a network of third-party media outlets for both advertising opportunities and dissemination of Privateer Press news and announcements to the largest possible audience.
- Collaborate with customer service, sales, and community administrators to maintain awareness of consumer feedback (from both retailers and players) and community health.
- Coordinate with Social Community Coordinator to develop, utilize, and expand social marketing initiatives, including Privateer Press forums, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
- Coordinate with Organized Play to develop programs to support the retention and acquisition of customers and players.
- Write or oversee the writing of all copy for Privateer Press’ website, advertising, sales documents, news items, press releases, product solicitations, etc.
- Coordinate with Convention team to evaluate, plan for, and execute convention and special event appearances by Privateer Press as part of the larger marketing strategy.
- Sales Management
- Develop, manage, and maintain programs and systems to drive sales, build awareness, and maintain interest with the distributors and the retailer channel. This includes monthly communications, use policies, products, services, and assistance.
- Work with sales team to ensure quarterly sales goals are achieved.
- Coordinate with sales team to create sales and marketing research.
- Work with international partners to develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to build and strengthen their regional markets.
- Web Management
- Direct the development of the Privateer Press website to align with overall marketing strategy.
- Aid in editing and posting web news stories, gallery updates, and ad content on Privateer Press website.
Required Skills and Proficiencies
- Management experience — must have prior experience managing teams of at least 4 people
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Solid knowledge of all Privateer Press products and product lines
- Solid knowledge of how to play all Privateer Press games
- Highly organized

- Experience in hobby game industry
