We also publish the bimonthly No Quarter™ magazine and the Formula P3™ hobby tool and paint range in addition to the other products in our catalog. Job Description
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will produce high-level, detail-oriented print and web materials including book, magazine, packaging, logo, photographic, website, flash, and content artwork. The Production Artist/Graphic Designer must be proficient with industry standard creative software on an Apple platform and possess a strong knowledge of production layout and printing standards. The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will work closely with the Art Director as part of the creative design team.
Responsibilities
Production of High-Quality Materials
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will be expected to produce high-quality, detail-oriented print and web materials on time and accurately, including packaging, book and magazine content, banners, media, prize support, branded clothing, and web graphics. This will require the ability to coordinate with other crew members on art direction, content, job specs, job quoting, legal content, and editing. Production of all materials should be done with a keen eye for design, consideration for the target audience, and a strong knowledge of print production and web design standards.
Product Layout
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will be required to lay out magazines, books, packaging, and other print-related material using InDesign. Candidates must have an excellent eye for composition and be able to balance art assets with copy and negative space. Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount, as is the ability to quickly switch gears between projects to meet deadlines.
Creation of Art Assets
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will be required to create high-quality art assets including logos, graphic elements, backgrounds, textures, typefaces, and other artwork for use in print and web projects. These elements must be branded to the worlds in which our games are set. These art assets will require both digital and traditional art skills. The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will also photograph miniatures for product and/or marketing use.
Management of Art Library and Resources
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer is responsible for properly archiving completed projects on internal servers. They will also have to answer solicitations for previous art assets and prepare files for delivery to outside partners.
Delivery of Finished Product to Vendor
The Production Artist/Graphic Designer will possess a strong knowledge of file preparation for delivery to vendors. They will troubleshoot issues that arise and will work with internal editors to achieve a quick proofing turnaround to ensure all print projects are delivered on schedule.
Desired Skills
- A keen eye for graphic design and a strong passion for art and design culture
- Ability to quickly and effectively demonstrate an idea through thumbnails and mock-ups
- Experience with photography, the use of studio equipment, and photo composition
- Strong passion for gaming culture and the tabletop gaming hobby
- Proficiency in the use and troubleshooting of Apple computers, design software, and necessary peripheral hardware
- High level of technical print knowledge for application in print projects
- Knowledge of graphic production for web and flash media
- Ability to work in an organized and responsible manner to meet scheduled deadlines
- Acute attention to detail
- Capacity to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred, but not required: a college level education in art, graphic design, or web design and industry experience
Familiarity with Privateer Press products is a plus, but it is not necessary.
