Unit Spotlight: Capitol Free Marines

In the Lore:

The Capitol forces the Free Marines consists of military convicts that would otherwise have been euthanized. Each one is given the chance to atone for their sins by completing five tours with the Free Marines.

On the battlefield, the physical and mental endurance of the Free Marines surpasses any other Capitol military force; they are able to fight with an apparent bestial ferocity, juxtaposed perfectly with the quietest of infiltration techniques. Consequentially, the Free Marines excel in near impossible and often suicidal missions that no other Special Forces unit could conceive of successfully achieving. Many infamous heroes of the Capitol Corporation have served as Free Marines at some point in their military career. Two examples, Bob Watts and Jake Kramer, are both held in the highest regard by the entire megacorp. All are known for their strength of body and mind, in addition to their ferocity in the field. Their selfless and compassionate approach to life is the supreme example of the rapport shown by all those that have served in the Free Marines.

On the Tabletop:

Capitol Free Marines are as tough on the tabletop as they are in the lore! They come standard equipped with M50 assault rifles, Punisher short swords and C-4 demo charges. They have lots of upgrade options including the M404 light machine gun, DPAT-7 rocket launcher and a plethora of grenade choices.

They have an impressive list of skills including Infiltrate which allows them to set up outside of the Capitol deployment zone, they are Fearless so no need to worry about them ever running away and they have the Ranger skill which allows them to ignore all movement penalties.

Their Passive: Med-training skill grants each Free Marine a Heal (5) to avoid wounds from failed armor tests. Free Marines do not go down easily.

The Passive Frenzy ability gives them a +1 rate of attack in melee.

Their active Freedom Forever may be used once per game for the cost of 2 resources and grants them +3 to their armor and +1 RoA when within 4 inches of the marker.

They may also use the Active: C-4 skill by spending 1 resource to allow 2 Free Marines to throw their C-4 charges. These things are brutal, they are Strength 17 with an AVV of 5 and a Large Explosion template.

Basically if you like fielding the toughest hombre’s in the solar system these are your unit!
