Last week, we revealed the upcoming Iron Kingdoms Unleashed Adventure Kit, available in stores everywhere in March 2015. The Iron Kingdoms Unleashed Adventure Kit is a complete adventure, including everything you need to play as a fierce warrior in the savage and untamed wilds of western Immoren. As a full introductory kit, it has everything you need for four players and a Game Master to begin an Unleashed campaign right out of the box. It’s also a great toolkit for playing adventures of your own creation! This week, we’ll explore what’s in the box.

What’s in the Box?

As you can see from the listed box contents, the Iron Kingdoms Unleashed Adventure Kit includes a rulebook, a scenario guide, 4 pregenerated player characters, 14 plastic figures, 9 double-sided map tiles, 4 sheets of map tokens, dice, and a ruler. We’ll be taking a closer look at all the components in the box over the weeks ahead, but here’s a quick rundown to get you started.

Rulebook and Scenario Guide

The 32-page rulebook has everything you need to run the included adventure—and to start your own Unleashed campaign when the adventure ends. Everything you’ll need to know to play the four pregenerated characters is detailed in this book. You’ll discover how to use your characters’ archetypes and skills, advance your characters, resolve social situations and fierce combat encounters, and utilize powerful magic and alchemy. The rulebook also includes a selection of abilities, spells, and rules to improve the pregenerated characters as you continue your adventures up until the full release of Unleashed.

The scenario guide is for Game Masters only! It contains the Hogwash adventure for the four player characters to experience, along with detailed information about the setting, NPCs, scenarios, and map layouts for combat encounters. It also provides guidance for new Game Masters, coaching them through the adventure and breaking down the most important rules as they come up.

Character Booklets

The Iron Kingdoms Unleashed Adventure Kit contains character booklets for the game’s four pregenerated characters. These four-panel folios go far beyond basic character sheets, however. They include information about each character’s personality, motivations, and relationships with other characters, so you can really dig in and understand your character. There’s also detailed information on your character’s special talents and abilities, so you won’t need to thumb through the rulebook while you play.

Plastic Figures

Inside the box you’ll find 14 plastic figures. These are all preassembled 32 mm scale figures—4 heroes and 10 antagonists.

Map Tiles and Tokens

The included set of 9 double-sided map tiles gives you a great toolkit for creating a variety of combat encounters. These maps can be arranged in many different configurations, providing you everything you need to create all manner of wilderness encounters. The map tokens are also double-sided and allow you to place buildings and obstacles independently, making the maps extremely customizable. Together, the map tiles and tokens are powerful tools in any Game Master’s bag of tricks.
