WARMACHINE APP STARTUP ISSUE — SOLVED
- We have a solution to the startup issue related to improvements in protecting the game-related data and code in the app.
- New app builds will be available in 24-48 hours that will address the issue, prompting users who have not created a user account to do so before using the app.
We have been working hard to root out the cause for a start up issue that a small number of WARMACHINE app users have been experiencing since the update earlier this week.
Over the past month, we have been improving the security of game-related data and code in the app, and these improvements went live this week. Even though we know everyone would love early spoilers for what’s coming up for WARMACHINE, we feel that the integrity of our game information is important to protect. However, in upgrading the security of the data, the app now requires a user account to access updates from the server. Users who have not created a user account will not be able to update their app.
If you have not created a user account and you are encountering the startup issue preventing you from updating and accessing the app data, going forward, the app will prompt you to create a user account in order to use the app. We have submitted new builds to Apple and Google, which we expect to be available in 24-48 hours. We will make an announcement as each one goes live so you can get back to playing WARMACHINE as quickly as possible.
As a reminder, we do not store any personal information in the app other than your email and password, which is stored with industry standard encryption, and your email will never be shared or sold. The email and password is always transmitted and stored on the server with encryption using PlayFab, a Microsoft owned, Azure based games backend that meets their rigorous security and privacy standards. We do not have access to payment information and subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
While we understand having another password to remember is not a trivial burden in an age where it seems everything we interact with requires a login, in order to provide the continued level of service and future upgrades we’re looking forward to in the WARMACHINE App, we have had to make these security improvements that will require a registered account.
Thank you for your patience as we have worked out the issue, and thank you for your continued support.
ADDENDUM: A fix for users that have encountered this so far has been to create an account, and they have been able to use the app as intended. If your app is completely unresponsive, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, then create your account. The coming update will require an account moving forwards but this may get you back up and running sooner.
