A Look Inside the Star Wars(R): Age of Rebellion(TM) Beginner Game

Recently, we announced the Star Wars®: Age of Rebellion™ Beginner Game. Now available for pre-order at your local retailer, the Age of Rebellion Beginner Game is a great entry point into Star Wars roleplaying, or roleplaying in general. However, it is also an excellent resource for more experienced roleplayers.

Today, we’re pleased to present an inside look at the Age of Rebellion Beginner Game. Developer Max Brooke takes you inside the Beginner Game to give you a sneak preview of its contents. Then, he goes on to share how the Beginner Game provides a great introduction to roleplaying in the Star Wars universe.

The Age of Rebellion Beginner Game: A Virtual Tour

Designed to help newcomers learn about roleplaying games and immerse players of all experience levels in the excitement of Age of Rebellion, the Beginner Game contains an introductory adventure and streamlined character folios that drop you right into the action and explain the game as you play. You’ll also find the custom Star Wars dice that make up the core mechanic used in both Age of Rebellion and Star Wars®: Edge of the Empire™.

Character and vehicle tokens, along with the four full-color maps included in the Beginner Game, help GMs and players visually represent their adventures while they play.

A Word From the Developer

Four daring Rebel Alliance agents have been tasked with capturing a secret Imperial base on the jungle world of Onderon. Behind enemy lines and with nothing at their back but the hostile jungle, this crack team must use their courage, their wits, and, of course, their blasters to overcome the odds and secure the base in the name of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Take on the role of Cael the Soldier, Zal the Ace, Vendri the Spy, or Tendaar the Engineer and bring the battle to the evil Empire with unique abilities and skills.

The Beginner Game provides detailed character folios and an adventure designed to teach players the basic skills they’ll need to understand their pre-generated characters. These encounters also help guide new Game Masters through the process of running a roleplaying game as the group progresses through the adventure.

For those new to roleplaying games or Star Wars roleplaying, the Beginner Game acts as a quick, exciting introduction to the system, in addition to being a full-fledged adventure in its own right.

Alongside the introductory adventure and character folios, the Beginner Game contains a set of the Star Wars Roleplaying dice and Destiny Tokens needed to play the game, a rulebook to help GMs run further adventures in the Star Wars universe, a set of four detailed maps of locations visited during the adventure, and character and vehicle tokens to represent heroes, allies, and adversaries in this adventure and countless others.

These maps are useful for any Age of Rebellion campaign, giving the GM visual aids for an Imperial base deep in the jungle, a Lambda-class shuttle, and two more full-color maps.

Additionally, the character tokens include famous foes such as Imperial scout troopers, a dianoga, and AT-ST walkers, as well as representations of allies and aliens iconic to the Star Wars universe.
