Who is – Wulf Sternhammer?
With the release of Warlord Games’ Strontium Dog: The Good, The Bad and The Mutie, it’s time to delve into the Doghouse and introduce one of our main characters…this time we find out more about Wulf Sternhammer!
A Viking displaced in time? Perfect bounty hunter material!
Wulf Sternhammer first appeared in Starlord comic #1. He was a typical Viking from 793 AD – he loved beer, battles and food. That is until he was accidentally displaced in time and found himself flung into the 22nd Century after a time bomb Johnny Alpha intended to use on his nemesis, Max Bubba caught him in its blast. As Johnny had saved Wulf’s life many times, Wulf swore loyalty to him and became his right-hand man – for the next fifteen years, the pair were inseparable.
The amiable Wulf had the strength of several men and provided strength and immense loyalty to their partnership. Wulf was famous for his huge Viking hammer which he christened, “Der Happy Stick”. He was also soon more than proficient with many of the weapons of the 22nd Century, such as thermo bombs and a custom built ‘Vebley’ Hand Blaster. Latterly one of Wulf’s trademarks would be the white Gronk pelt coat he wore out of respect for its former owner.
Together, Johnny and Wulf formed a bond that lasted until their retirement when they built a cabin on Moondog Mountain on Smiley’s World. Neither of them suspected the horror that was to come…
