In just under two months, Privateer Play Day will begin! If you haven’t heard about this event yet, check out the official announcement at http://privateerpress.com/privateer-play-day!

If you look at that and think, “This seems too easy. I just get some friends and family, go to my local shop to play games, and I win free stuff. What’s the catch?” then I have some news you’re sure to be interested in: there is no catch.

Privateer Press is best known for WARMACHINE and HORDES, but there are a lot of players who prefer board games and card games to miniatures wargaming. WARMACHINE and HORDES have a ton of organized play options for casual and competitive players alike, so now we’re going to offer something fun and compelling for everyone else.

We wanted to offer a reason to bring everyone together at the local hobby store and to encourage a day of fun, games, and relaxation. Of course, just saying “Hey everyone: go play today!” doesn’t always work, so we had to sweeten the pot. That’s where the prizes come in.

See, just by showing up and playing you’ll be able to get a promo card unique to the game you play. Sit down with a group of friends and play a game of LEVEL 7 [Omega Protocol], get a LEVEL 7 [Omega Protocol] card. Jump into a game of Heap with some new players you just met at the store, get a Heap promo card. It’s really that simple.

These card prizes will be a mix of promos previously available at conventions or special events along with some totally new promos debuting at Privateer Play Day. Because the new Bodgers game, Zombies Keep Out, will be released just before Play Day, we felt it was appropriate to include some Zombified promo cards for other games. For example, check out this new Infernal Contraption promo card available at Privateer Play Day!

Now, in addition to the store-level prizes, we also have grand prizes. We’re offering big prizes for players as well as for retailers who host the event, but for now let’s focus on what you as a player can win. Each retailer who has ordered a Play Day kit also received a signup sheet. After the event is over retailers will send in their sheets to us with the names of every player who participated in Privateer Play Day.

Then, we’re going to randomly choose a name from all these signup sheets to win a grand prize: three awesome canvas prints to jump-start your very own Privateer Press art gallery!
