FossilPunk Foundry Unveils New Miniatures for Sauriana

With only a few weeks until their Kickstarter campaign launches on October 1st, FossilPunk Foundry is revealing two of the upcoming miniatures for its 54mm wargame, Sauriana.

Today we look at the Othniellian’s Rockhound sculpt, the art for which we previewed in last week’s post. As you can see, the finished 3D Sauriana Rockhound Sculptsculpt (soon to be printed, molded, and cast as a full miniature) came out very close to its concept at!

In-game, this Agent serves as a bit of a harasser, somewhat fragile, but extremely fast and agile, and gains a bonus for tackling multiple enemies at once (more will be revealed when we dive into the rules for Sauriana).

Of course, as an Othneillian, the Agent herself is a Paleontologist, clearly outfitted for fieldwork on the American frontier. She carries the tools of her trade, a bag of fossils found during her latest expedition, and is armed with a classic six-shooter, capable of taking on anything that might oppose her or her faction.

And now: the main event. Hailing from the prehistoric plains of America 67 million years ago, transposed into the 19th century by way of a time portal….the Laelaps!

Now known as the dinosaur Dryptosaurus, this mesozoic monster was discovered in the 1800s, and was among the first dinosaurs interpreted as an active, mobile predator rather than a plodding cold-blooded reptile.

In Sauriana…it lives up to that reputation. As a 54mm resin miniature, the Laelaps stands some 60mm tall and nearly 200mm long (almost 7 inches), making it the largest miniature FossilPunk Foundry will be producing in the first wave of models, and one of the largest 54mm scale miniatures on the market.

As you can see below, this creature almost perfectly conforms to its concept art, evoking a retro-stylized image of a mighty dinosaur. In-game, it is more than a match for any one Agent, requiring teamwork (or some really heavy weaponry!) to bring down before it closes into biting-distance.

The Laelaps will be available for preorder on www.fossilpunkfoundry.com within the coming weeks. We are aiming for it, as well as the Rhinophile, to form the core contents of our starter box. The Kickstarter for Sauriana goes live October 1, 2016, and we need your help in bringing it to life!
